Before the restoration, 99% of the inlay was missing, however just enough was left to see how the box would have originally looked like. The box itself was in distressed condition with most the brass buttons and ivory trim missing.
After restoration, all the missing inlay, trim and brass buttons were painstakingly reproduced by hand to match the original pieces. The Tortoise shell panels were cleaned and polished to bring back their former deep luster. Another successful restoration.
